Verizon’s Surprising U-Turn on 3G The company declared the deadline for its 3G service on the Verizon News Center. This was a surprising change of plan, as it’s only two months after the company declared that it had no immediate plans of stopping its 3G service. However, the company has now made its mind up and set a deadline for December 31, 2022. It wanted to initiate the cutoff back in 2019 but had to delay it twice to give people time to migrate off of 3G....

Verizon will help Project Kuiper by expanding its LTE and 5G data networks using cellular backhaul solutions. In addition, the companies will work together to define technical requirements to help extend fixed wireless coverage to rural and remote communities. The LEO satellite system will serve individual households, as well as schools, hospitals, businesses, and other organizations operating in places where internet access is limited or unavailable. Companies have been prioritizing broadband internet access in recent years, and Verizon has previously partnered with the Federal Communications Commission along with AT&T, Comcast, and T-Mobile for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program....

The phone carrier announced a brand new Verizon Adaptive Sound system on Wednesday that it says will let you “experience music, games, movies, and meetings like never before.” The first phone with the new Adaptive Sound system featuring Dolby Atmos-enabled content is the Motorola One 5G UW Ace, which is available to purchase now. Droid Life reported that Verizon also will add Adaptive Sound to the Motorola Edge+ in a new update of the device....

That time is now. The company just officially launched 5G service to more than 1,700 cities throughout America, covering over 100 million existing customers. An important source from VZ has told TechCrunch that Verizon has forbidden its entire retail staff to ask for any vacation days during that period, in anticipation of customers lining up at the store to buy the latest smartphone. This news coincides with a report from last week that revealed that AT&T was also preparing for the late-September launch of new iPhone by blacking out the vacation days of its employees....

The expansion means that customers in those cities can enjoy 5G speeds up to ten times faster than 4G LTE speeds with the potential of hitting up to one gigabit per second speeds. Verizon believes that through its plans, nearly one in three Americans will soon live in areas where faster 5G speeds are possible. Notably though, the speed expansion might be coming to a vast number of cities but coverage is limited to select areas within those cities....
