The bosses in the Bone Zone are not any tougher than those in other stages, but the player must contend with the Stalker and Drowner variants of Death during this thirty-minute gauntlet. This guide will give players having a tough time making it to the 30-minute mark some tips for surviving this challenging new stage.

Character

Selecting the right character is more important in the Bone Zone than in other stages. A character with a less than desirable starting weapon runs the risk of not being able to level up fast enough to compensate for the growth in enemy numbers and strength over time. Characters like Leda and Red Death, are good picks for this stage, but Leda’s slow movement speed might be his undoing around eighteen minutes into the stage.

Other good characters to use in the Bone Zone are Poppea, Christine, Cavallo, Porta, and Pasqualina. Whatever character a player chooses, it’s important to tailor their build to work with their passive bonuses. Cavallo should select weapons like the Runetracer and Cross, and accessories like the Duplicator and Bracer. Poppea should select weapons, like the Santa Water and King Bible, that are affected by increases in duration.

Weapons

In most stages of Vampire Survivors, the enemies attack in a massed group. In the Bone Zone, enemies will often attack in scattered groups. This makes weapons like the Whip and Fire Wand less effective. There are also quite a few enemies with distance weapons in the Bone Zone. This makes getting a weapon that protects the player a must; in other words, the Laurel is a must.

Great weapon selections are the King Bible, Song of Mana, Pentagram, and Santa Water. Additionally, the weapons that send out projectiles whose numbers can be increased, like the Bone, Runetracer, and Magic Wand, are best if used by a character with a passive bonus that increases the number of projectiles; otherwise, these weapons might not provide enough offense in the Bone Zone. The optimal weapons build for the Bone Zone is King Bible, Santa Water, Laurel, Magic Wand (or Cross), Runetracer, and Lightning Ring.

Accessories

The pick-up items in the Bone Zone are limited to gold coins and cion bags. There are no Rosary, Vacuum, Nduja Fritta Tanto, Orologion, or Little Clovers pick-up items. Worst of all, there are no Floor Chicken pick-up items; so all healing comes from the character’s abilities.

For this reason, it’s not a bad idea to get the Pummarola accessory for faster regeneration, and the Tiragisu for a couple of Revives. The Spinach accessory helps keep the character’s damage high enough to keep the enemy from surrounding the character. The optimal accessory list, which is meant to work with the above optimal weapons, is Spellbinder, Attractorb, Pummarola, Empty Tome (or Clover), Armor, and Duplicator.

Final Thoughts

If a player has yet to unlock the Toastie character, they may want to substitute the Runetracer and Armor with the Pentagram and Crown. This will give them the best chance at unlocking Toastie, and they work well with the other weapons in the build. Just be prepared to lose a few treasure chests because of the Pentagram.

The two union weapons, Phieraggi and Vandalier, perform well in the Bone Zone; however, getting their constituent weapons maxed in level, not to mention then having to get Vandalier to level eight, is risky in this stage. These weapons are not that powerful until evolved, but if the player can accomplish this the Bone Zone should be a lot easier.

Vampire Survivors was released on December 17th, 2021, for the PC and macOS.
